Case Study: Comparator Sourcing & Procurement
Comparator Sourcing for Analytical Testing Ahead of ANDA Submission
6 Lots. 3 Wholesalers. 2-Week Delivery.
The Challenge
A US-based generic pharmaceutical company was conducting analytical testing as part of its product development process and needed six different lots of a reference product to support that testing ahead of an ANDA submission.
The challenge went beyond simple sourcing: all six lots needed to arrive simultaneously for initial testing, while a larger reserve quantity of the preferred lot had to be stored, ready for release the moment testing confirmed which lot would move forward.
Our Approach
To meet this challenge, Tanner drew on its broader supply network, coordinating with three different wholesalers to identify, procure, and hold the required lots. This meant the client didn't have to choose between speed and optionality: all six lots were secured and delivered together, while the larger quantity of the preferred lot stood in parallel, ready for immediate release.
All six lots arrived within two weeks. The moment testing confirmed the preferred lot, Tanner released the larger reserve quantity with no delay and no second-sourcing round. The client's ANDA submission stayed on schedule, one step closer to bringing a generic product to market, helping deliver faster, more affordable access to the patients who need it.
