Case Study: Comparator Sourcing & Procurement

Complex Multi-Country EU Comparator Sourcing

165 Packs. 3 Sources. 3 Week Timeline.

The Challenge

A US-based pharmaceutical company engaged Tanner Pharma to support comparator drug sourcing for research and development activities. The requirement involved procuring 165 packs of a branded EU cardiology product across three distinct lots, each critical to meeting study specifications.

The products needed to be sourced from multiple European markets and delivered to India within a strict three-week timeframe. This introduced complexity across clinical trial logistics, including multi-country sourcing, import documentation, and coordinated delivery.

Additionally, the customer’s timeline for securing import permits required interim storage, adding further pressure to maintain GDP-compliant storage and distribution while preserving product integrity.

Our Approach

Tanner Pharma leveraged its established EU network to source the required comparator products across Spain, Germany, and the Czech Republic, ensuring all lot-specific requirements were met. To align with the customer’s import permit timeline, all materials were consolidated and securely stored in Tanner’s Austria-based GDP-compliant facility.

Throughout storage and transit, strict temperature controls were maintained in line with GxP-compliant logistics standards. Tanner also managed all required export and import documentation, enabling seamless coordination of global clinical trial logistics and ensuring on-time delivery to India within the three-week window.
