Case Study: Named Patient Program

Supplying Critical Medicines to Low-Resource Countries

Uninterrupted Access.

The Challenge

A global biopharmaceutical company needed a trusted partner to manage early access requests for a treatment for a rare liver disease treatment across multiple European countries.

With requests coming from diverse healthcare systems — many with limited resources or complex import requirements — the company required a single, compliant solution to manage urgent patient demand while maintaining product quality, supply continuity, and regulatory compliance.

Our Approach

Tanner collaborated with the sponsor to establish a robust, GDP-compliant supply chain that could respond rapidly to requests from hospitals and healthcare professionals across Europe. A centralized inventory was maintained in Tanner’s EU warehouse to enable same-day or next-day shipments, reducing lead times for urgent cases.

Tanner also worked with the manufacturer to develop clear policies for free-of-charge supply into key markets, giving patients additional time to secure funding from local authorities or national health systems.

Throughout, Tanner ensured full visibility and traceability of product movement, supported by regulatory and logistics expertise that met all local import and pharmacovigilance requirements.
