We Biked 54 Miles from London to Brighton for the MVA Society
Our team recently took on the London to Brighton bike route, 54 miles from the outskirts of the city down to the seafront, with one particularly brutal climb waiting near the end. We rode it to raise support for the MVA Society, a cause that matters a great deal to us.
Several were riding the route for the first time, including Jonathan Bracey, Pierre De Wet, and Veljko Gucic. Jonathan didn't hold back about his struggle, calling it the hardest thing he's ever done, and then finished it anyway, which says more than any polished description could. Our crew of partners rode strong and steady from start to finish, setting a pace the rest of us were grateful for on the harder stretches.
There's a certain overlap between a day like this and the work we do at Tanner every day in rare disease: it takes persistence, a willingness to keep going when things get difficult, and a clear sense of why the goal matters. This challenge just happened to involve more sunscreen and far steeper terrain.
