End-to-End Import of Oncology Co-Med in Active Shortage for Phase III Trial

The Challenge
A mid-size biotech company needed a concomitant/comparator medication (co-med) for an oncology clinical trial. When the medication entered an active shortage in the U.S., continued patient dosing and the integrity of the trial were put at risk. The sponsor needed a compliant, uninterrupted supply solution to prevent treatment gaps, patient withdrawals, protocol deviations, and costly trial delays.
Our Approach
Tanner identified the medication’s manufacturer in the UK and established direct access to the product, creating an alternate supply route that bypassed the constrained U.S. channel. The team then managed the end-to-end import process, including customs, documentation, and regulatory requirements, while maintaining quality and compliance throughout.
This approach kept patients on protocol without interruption, protected continuity of care, and prevented the shortage from delaying the study. Trial endpoints were met on schedule, preserving the data integrity needed to move the therapy closer to future patients.
